Welcome to the preview edition of Between the Blinks. We’ve wanted to put something like this together for a while. Each week, we will share a few things we’ve learned from treating dry eye, running a practice, and figuring things out as we go. Some weeks it’ll be clinical, some weeks more about the business side, and probably a little bit of everything in between. Our goal is pretty simple: keep it practical, keep it interesting, and hopefully give you at least one thing you can take back to your own practice.

Every Monday, there will be a weekly release of Between the Blinks which will include:

Blink Exercise of the Week — a section dedicated to the diagnosis and management of dry eye and ocular surface disease

Practice Notes — a section dedicated to opening, building out, and managing a dry eye practice

Life Between the Blinks — a section dedicated to a peek behind the scenes of our writers

One Last Blink — a final, thought-provoking message to launch you into the week

We will also be releasing a supplementary piece of material on some Fridays, which we are still defining while we find our voice!

Look forward to our weekly newsletter to launch on Monday, August 24th!

About the Authors

Andrew Zagelbaum, OD

Dr. Andrew Zagelbaum grew up on Long Island, New York, and was inspired to become an optometrist by his father. After graduating from the New England College of Optometry in 2023, he spent two years working as an associate before deciding to take a chance on practice ownership. In 2025, he opened the Dry Eye Center of Arizona, a practice focused exclusively on dry eye and ocular surface disease. Along the way, Andrew has developed a passion not only for treating dry eye, but also for the challenges, lessons, and occasional headaches that come with owning a practice. Between the Blinks is a place to share what he’s learning, what’s working, and what he wishes someone had told him along the way.

Ada Noh, OD

Dr. Ada Noh graduated from Salus University in 2015 and spent the early years of her career finding her own path within optometry, a path which would eventually lead her to dry eye. In 2022, Ada opened Noh Eyes in Little Rock, Arkansas, a practice dedicated exclusively to dry eye care. In 2026, she sold the assets, packed up, and started a new chapter in McKinney, Texas. Having built a specialty practice and then taken on the challenge of relocating it to a new state, Ada has experienced plenty of the wins, mistakes, and lessons that come with doing things a little differently. Between the Blinks is a chance to share those experiences and hopefully make the road a little easier for other doctors doing the same.

It can be scary, taking a leap of faith to pursue something new and unfamiliar. It can also be life-changing.

See you next week.
